According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.environnement.gouv.qc.ca\/air\/atmosphere\/guide-mod-dispersion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Guide de la mod\u00e9lisation de la dispersion atmosph\u00e9rique du MELCCFP (2025)<\/em><\/a>, these studies are essential to avoid the degradation of air quality and to verify compliance with Quebec standards for environmental permit applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, they allow us to answer the following question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab <em>What happens to contaminants after they are released into the atmosphere?<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Atmospheric dispersion studies are necessary for what?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dispersion studies are used to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assess environmental impacts before a project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MELCCFP uses the <strong>Atmospheric emission dispersion modeling<\/strong> to authorize projects that could emit contaminants.
