Our history

Our company’s roots begin in 2012 at GCM Consultants Inc., when François Roberge, one of Quebec’s leading specialists in sustainable development and innovation, joined the team. Five years later, GCM had the vision to establish itself in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, with the aim of contributing to this incredible region of Quebec.

The 2017 acquisition of Amos-based Services Envirosynergie, founded by Émilie Bélanger, marked a turning point for GCM’s Environment group. In 2023, to preserve the team’s colorful and innovative identity, GCM created a subsidiary specifically for environmental and sustainable development services. Naturally, we decided to return to our roots and name the subsidiary GCM Enviro Synergies Inc.

Achievements

Nemaska Lithium

As it prepared to restart operations at its Whabouchi mine, Nemaska Lithium mandated GCM to produce the documentation needed to obtain the various permits and authorizations required for the new phase of the project, which will produce lithium spodumene concentrate.

Campings Baie-des-Sables et Baie-du-Till

The Baie-des-Sables and Baie-du-Till campgrounds are located in the La Vérendrye wildlife reserve. The project involved the construction of two discharge stations and the design of a wastewater treatment system for those stations. The challenges were many: the area has no electricity, no cellular reception, and no Internet service. Passive, electricity-free domestic wastewater treatment systems for the campgrounds were designed and approved by the MELCCFP.

Station de ski Sommet Morin Heights

Sommet Morin Heights is a ski resort in the Laurentians region where we were commissioned to design a new wastewater treatment system for the entire site, which includes a residential area and a campground in addition to the ski resort.

Société d’Économie Mixte de l’Est de la Couronne Sud

GCM Enviro Synergies assists the Société d’Économie Mixte de l’Est de la Couronne Sud (SÉMECS) in the annual production of its greenhouse gas emission reports for its biomethanization treatment centre. These reports are used for reporting purposes under the Programme de traitement de la matière organique par biométhanisation et compostage (PTMOBC).
